Sessions and fees

Accessing psychological therapy is a commitment and it is important to understand what is expected in order to be able to make an informed decision about whether what we offer fits your current needs and circumstances.

Sessions usually last 50 minutes and take place on a weekly basis. There may be occasions when a longer session is required (e.g. 90-minute sessions during trauma-focused therapy); this is not compulsory, but it is recommended and will be discussed and agreed with you in advance.

We recommend weekly sessions to gain the most from therapy. However, there may be occasions when clients want to access sessions less frequently. While we can offer flexibility, there are instances where having sessions less than once weekly may not be recommended therapeutically. We will discuss this in advance and agree on a suitable package of therapy to best suit your needs.

  • Standard session (50 minutes): £100

  • Longer session (90 minutes): £150

Reports and summary letters are available upon request and charged at the standard rate of £100 per hour.

Please note that fees are subject to regular review and might increase during the duration of your therapy contract. Any increase will be communicated to you in advance.

Preferred method of payment is by bank transfer payable Psychology Brighton Ltd. Payments by bank transfer must be received in advance of the session and no later than 48 hours prior to the session time. We also accept cash and card payments, payable on the day of the session. Please note that this option is not available for online sessions, which are payable in advance by bank transfer. We do not accept cheques.

New clients

Please note that in order to secure a booking for an initial consultation we require the full payment for the session in advance at the time of your booking. Your booking will not be finalised until the payment is received and signed therapy contract returned.

If you cancel your initial consultation with at least 48 hours' notice, the payment will be refunded in full. If you cancel your session between 48 and 24 hours prior to the agreed session time, you will receive a refund of 50% of the session fee. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice and missed sessions are non refundable.

We reserve the right to cancel a session without notice and terminate the therapy contract if payments are not received in line with the terms outlined above.

Private Health Insurance

We accept referrals for clients who have private health insurance with:

  • Vitality Health Insurance

  • Aviva

  • AXA

Fees for psychological therapy may vary depending on the insurer as they often have their own rates.

If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please get in touch at least 48 hours before the agreed session time. Sessions cancelled with at least 48-hours notice will not be charged. Sessions cancelled/rescheduled with less than 48 hours notice will incur 50% of the fee of that session. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice and missed sessions will incur 100% of the fee of that session.

Your therapist will endeavour to give you as much advance notice as possible in terms of holidays or of any need to cancel a future appointment.

It is not possible for sessions to overrun due to our duty of care to other clients. Therefore, if you arrive to the session late, your therapist will still finish at the agreed time. If you attend your sessions more than 20 minutes late, your therapist may ask you to reschedule, as there wouldn’t be enough time to complete the necessary therapeutic work. Late sessions will still incur the full fee.

If you have any questions, with regards to our terms and conditions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
